I have lived here for the last two years and honestly there's nothing to complain about. The staff have always been friendly and helpful and the property itself is beyond beautiful. I like that they're houses and not like other traditional apartments.

The cottages have been great for my son the past year. They were very friendly and helpful on move in and always help out as soon as possible if there is an issue. Our son is really comfortable there and we've already signed for another year for him and will be moving our daughter there as well.

The Cottages at Lake Tamaha is a great place to live. I've lived here for almost a year now and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The staff treats you like family and the maintenance team is super quick. Plus, the free food never gets old.

I moved in this month and I really love it. I really love to be able to use the lake and kayak anytime I want to. I was randomly matched with roommates and I don't think the staff could have done a better job. The property is always clean and I feel safe living here. When I moved in my place was really clean and I loved all the free food. So far, I couldn't have asked for a better move in experience or a better place to live for my senior year. I just wished I would have moved in sooner.

I lived at the Cottages (Retreat) for a full year, and although the price was pretty high (I stayed in a 2 bedroom), I felt it was pretty worth it. It's 4 minutes to drive to campus, the grounds and upkeep of the houses are great. The cardio machines in the workout room were frequently broken, but the pool was a big plus (just frustrating when they closed it for two summers in a row). Maintenance was on top of things, and we never dealt with bugs. Very dog/cat friendly. Overall I'd recommend living there

I won't be renewing my lease here. Our air conditioner can be set on 75 and it feels like 60 and it kept causing us to go over on utilities. We called to get it fixed numerous times and no one actually could fix it and we continued to go over on utilities. We called to get things fixed a lot and someone would come to fix it, but it wouldn't make the problem any better. Like our front door wouldn't close either. Also, somehow we even went over on utilities during the summer when everything was off and no one was living in the house. It is overpriced for what it is, most of the staff in the clubhouse are not very friendly. There are nicer places to live for less than what I paid to live here. The houses are not worth the price. And how we always went over on utilities was ridiculous. The pool is nice and the lake, but other than that I wouldn't recommend living here.

I lived here for a year and loved it! A great atmosphere, very safe, and I think very worth the cost. As with every place you rent from, as long as you stay on top of projects that need done, they get done when you need them. I never felt unwelcome or unsafe. I would highly recommend this location for any new house renter! A great move for our first renting property to learn the ropes!

The Cottages are awesome! The staff, and leasing team are so nice and helpful, ask for Jackie. The pool is beautiful, and the clubhouse is a great place to work out, hang out, or work on homework! I highly recommend this place if you are a student! The atmosphere is awesome as well!

Ive lived here for 3 years now, and I absolutely love it. The Cottages are a dream for college students. I think everyone takes advantage of how convenient it is to have on site maintenance and on site management. All of the houses and amenities have had awesome renovations that really take The Cottages to the next level. They have a lake, kayaks, tennis, basketball, volleyball, a huge pool, grills, ping pong, private study rooms, free printing, 24/7 coffee machine, and a gym. Theyre also ALWAYS having events with free food. I honestly dont think I would be able to live in an apartment building after living in my own cottage for so long. I dread having to graduate and move away from this place thats become my home. I highly, highly recommend The Cottages.

Definitely the best place to live for students. I love that it's cottage style instead of sharing a wall with your neighbors. Carol and the rest of the staff are so nice!

I visited this property today and absolutely loved my tour. Carol was the best! If you are going to UA this is the best place to live in Tuscaloosa. They have a huge lake, pool and an amazing staff.

I have enjoyed my last 3 years living at The Cottages. I hate that I have to move out, but I am FINALLY graduating. I am going to miss the staff the most. Management treated me like I was one of their own kids. I will always be grateful for the relationships that have been made while living at The Cottages. I will be successful in life due to what that place has taught me. Great place to live, great people and even better memories. Thank you to the staff and all you have done for me these past 3 years!!!

I love having my own house so I dont have to worry as much about noise. Its a little far from campus and some of the fines are a little excessive. Megan at the clubhouse was very helpful

Lived here for 4 years that I have been at school down here. I have had all good experiences and do not have anything bad to say. Definitely recommend checking it out. A few small complaints would be theres not enough room for trash on main section, and then also the pool table could be kept up better. But other than that I really enjoyed living here. Megan

I really loved living at The Cottages. I lived there for 3 years and loved every minute of it. The staff was awesome and the clubhouse was always open. I got to meet some really great people there that are now my life long friends. The staff always put on great events and I really hated when I had to miss one. I recommend everyone should live here. Once you move-in, you won't want to move.

Living here has been quite a good experience. The new management is really trying to make good improvements, and it has made The Cottages more than just the place I live for me. The sense of community has really grown. The upgraded elite cottages look great! My only frustration lies with the gates, which have become more of a nucance than anything. For some reason the Cardinal Group has had a very difficult time getting the gates here to function properly.

The Cottages is the best place to live in Tuscaloosa. I lived in a couple different places through out college and hands down this is the best. You are not far from campus and getting to class is a breeze. You literally can get to class in 5 minutes. The lake is awesome and the staff is even better. I think everyone should live here if you want a great place to live.

My daughter has lived here for nearly 4 years now and we have enjoyed every visit we have made to see her. This is a beautiful property and the new management company is great. We haven't had any issues since she has moved in and hope to not have any until she leaves. We have recommended this place to many of her friends and will continue to do so if anyone asks where their students should live in Tuscaloosa.

The Cottages at Lake Yamaha are amazing! The amenities are like no other. Beautiful pool, club house, gym and housing. The staff is extremely professional and helpful. I had the pleasure of touring the grounds with Taylor Wilson she was extremely helpful with everything and so nice. Always meeting and greeting everyone with a smile! I highly recommend the Cottages at Lake Tamaha and the outstanding staff!

My daughter lived here for 3 years until she graduated and LOVED living here!! She had a couple of move out charges but nothing that was too extreme. Every time I called when I had a question, the staff was extremely helpful and professional. I would recommend this to anyone! They also have A LOT of resident events and are always trying to give back to their residents!

This property is one of the best. The amenities, such as the pool, fitness center, and huge lake, are unmatched. There are often several fun events to attend that offer the chance to meet other people in the community. The management is always quick to address any issues, and the maintenance team is one of the best of any property I've ever lived at. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to live in Tuscaloosa.

This is by far the best student housing in Tuscaloosa. It has everything you could ask for. To start with you essentially have your own house which is so much better than having an apartment. I have dog and it simply doesn't get better for dog owners. I have a chocolate lab and she loves it. She has so much grass area to run around. The lake is amazing and it completely sets The Cottages apart. The most underrated feature is the 24/7 clubhouse that also has the computer lounge that you can use anytime. Turns out I procrastinate quite a bit, so it comes in handy. I have lived in numerous properties in Tuscaloosa and the part where The Cottages sets itself apart is simply the management. Every time you go through the clubhouse, the entire staff treats with such pleasure and respect.

I am a former resident of The Cottages, although I just moved out this past July. I lived at The Cottages my sophomore through senior years of college and my experience was nothing short of exceptional. I would recommend this place 100% to anyone looking to move off campus in Tuscaloosa. The staff was always friendly, maintenance was consistently prompt and getting fed by The Retreat was no a rare occasion (Can I get an AMEN). In addition the amenities are extremely convenient and useful from the perspective of a busy college student. I followed all my move out instructions and received a final account statement that I deemed as appropriate. There is no place in Tuscaloosa like the cottages. Living here will enhance your college experience in ways you can't image.

The cottages are really nice! The staff is friendly and professional. They are always trying to go above and beyond for their residents; whether it be planning activities or answering questions, they are always there to make sure you have a great experience living here. If you are a parent looking for a place for your college student look no further. You will feel relieved knowing your child is in a gated community with a reliable management team. No where else in Tuscaloosa can compare.

It's an alright place to live. beautiful lake, but that does cause a unusually high amount of insect activity. I have never lived in a place with more spiders (4 brown recluse in the first 3 days I lived here) it's a nice change to live in a house(cottage) instead of a traditional apartment. For what you're paying it's a fair situation someone could be content with.

Absolutely love the new clubhouse renovations and the Camp Cottages theme! Very thankful for a property and staff that really try to give their residents the best experience possible. I'm a nursing major and getting a room at the library is a struggle, but getting a room for my study group in the newly renovated study area has been a breeze! Green spaces 10/10, lake 10/10, and helpful/friendly staff and management 11/10! Definitely recommend The Cottages to anyone who wants to get the relaxing disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the city and campus, while still being a straight shot to all the action!

I have lived at The Retreat for two years and am looking forward to my third! The community events and pool parties have made for such good memories during my time here. The staff is always helpful, communicative and willing to ensure that your stay is as comfortable as possible. I am definitely looking forward to what the new management brings to the community. Would 10/10 recommend any student looking for off-campus housing to sign a lease here!

I'm so excited to be living there in the Fall! The place is gorgeous, and in a great spot by a beautiful lake! The staff and management have been nothing but helpful with any kind of questions I've had. They are up front with you and are so nice! The houses themselves are so spacious and look so comfortable. Without a doubt, I'm stoked to call this place home in a few months!

I do not recommend The Retreat for college kids. It is too far from campus for students. My daughter felt like it was a big mistake being that far away. You tend to not go out as much and have to drive everywhere and everyone. Not good. And secondly the management office is very hard to work with. They had a recent change to their portal and refused to even discuss with me over the phone the best way to access the new portal. After 4 messages, I was told the manager, Courtney, does not communicate via phone. After trying to get the bill paid and 10 months of paying every bill on time and electronically, they than charged a $57 late fee which they claim can not be reversed event though they had a problem with their portal. Not nice. I have another child attending Alabama and will make to never recommend this place.

The Retreat is overall a pretty good place to live. It's got the highest quality housing and best amenities of anywhere around campus, and it offers competitive pricing and enticing promotions throughout the year, such as wing eating contests and sending free pizzas for doing online reviews. My only complaints about this living community are small and rather specific, and they are only that it has speed bumps at the entrance, strict security guards that will hassle, but ultimately let pass, your friends or guests when they try to drive into your neighborhood on weeknights, and how it's not within walking distance from campus. None of these, however, are anywhere near significant enough to negatively affect the esteem to which I hold this place in my memory moving forward. I've enjoyed my time at The Retreat very much, and would consider it the clear choice for your off campus living arrangements after your freshman year.

I live in a five-bedroom cottage at The Retreat and my roommates and I have had a great experience here overall. Maintenance requests are usually handled in a very timely manner-- once we had a plumbing issue on a Sunday afternoon and someone came to resolve the issue right away. While some of the amenities are a bit over-the-top (golf simulator, tanning, etc.), living at The Retreat has honestly been a pretty cost-effective option (in the five-bed cottage, anyways). And being right by a lake with a nice little walking trail is a wonderful perk! My roommates and I decided to re-sign with The Retreat for next year, as we have been very satisfied with our experience.

Yea it's nice at the start, rooms are fairly clean and houses are nice, but once you get in, you better note every single detail that is not perfect. They will try to charge you for every little thing at the end of the lease. During the lease, they will also try to charge you for every little thing. They will eventually come out around 5 in the morning to check for trash outside and try to charge 100 dollars per bag per person, so get ready. Wouldn't recommend living here, but its definitely not the worst place in Tuscaloosa.

Probably one of the better places to live in Tuscaloosa, especially for the price. There are some scratches on the wall and minor damages like that but they're very good about replacing or fixing any major problems. The amenities and employees are really great. If it counts for anything, my roommates and I are living here again!
