Storrs:
A Local Perspective

With only 10,000 in the city, Storrs would be considered a small town by many people's standards. However, the primary campus of the University of Connecticut in Storrs actually makes it a thriving little community. The Connecticut Repertory Theatre also increases the profile of the small town as a well regarded home for the arts.

The Connecticut Repertory theatre is affiliated with the University. However, it has grown a reputation for excellence that most education-affiliated theatres never reach. The University itself has more than 30,000 students attend annually. It is also one of the most important employers in both Storrs and the surrounding communities. Between the University and the affiliated Health Center, UConn employs more than 10,000 people from this part of the country.

Staying in the know

Keep track of the various ads that you see when looking for an apartment. In a high demand market like Storrs, if a property is available for a long time that could potentially be a sign of a red flag. Typically, a good apartment in a hot market will get snapped up within a few weeks of becoming available.
