Slippery Rock is a very small community, and walking around the entire town site is easy enough for almost anybody. If you need easier transportation to and from the University however, there is a shuttle from Slippery Rock University that takes students to most of the main locations within the town site. The students call the shuttle, the "Happy Bus".
Within the immediate vicinity of Slippery Rock, there is more to keep people entertained than one might expect. Attending sporting events featuring the University's teams is a favorite local pastime. One of the best local hangouts is North Country Brewing, a local brewery with an on-site restaurant and fantastic locally brewed beer. Moraine State Park and Lake Arthur are located just south of town, and provide outdoor recreation opportunities.
