One of the Bay Area’s greatest attributes is its connected public transportation infrastructure. The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority runs a light rail station near the college that can take students to nearby areas like San Jose, Sunnyvale, and Mountain View. There are also two bus stops near Mission, and a commuter express shuttle. It’s viable to get to practically anywhere in the Bay Area, from San Jose to San Francisco, using just public transportation, as long as you know where to make the connections. The region of the Bay Area that Mission College is in (San Jose, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara) is one of the worst places in the country for college students trying to find rentals with a small budget. One bedroom apartments near the college are, on average, $1684/month, and the price shoots up to $2142 for two bedroom rentals and $2863 for three bedrooms. However, you should be able to find rentals on the low end of the price range, especially if you include studio apartments in your search. But the thing is, the low end in this area is still very expensive. Keep your eyes peeled on the market and grab any bargains as soon as they’re posted on this site.
