As a town that was founded to support a University, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that most of the rental apartments in Oxford end up going to Miami students. This greatly affects when you want to look for apartments, with April, May and June being the best months. There is also a small window in November where you see more vacancies.
Landlords in Oxford are going to expect that most people who move to town are students. If you're not, you'll probably need to offer up some sort of confirmation of employment. If you are a student, you'll find landlords accommodating and used to working with students.
Public transportation in Oxford was improved a great deal in 2013. Previously, the busses that travelled through town were primarily feeders towards the University, and as a result, were only open to University students. Now, the general public can ride the Miami Metro as well. However, you can walk across most of the town in under a half hour if necessary.
RedHawks games offer some of the best entertainment value for your dollar in Oxford. There is a performing arts series, an art museum, and several galleries also affiliated with the campus. Just outside of town, you can find Hueston Woods State Park, which has a golf course, fishing and boating, and miles of trails to explore.
