Marion:
A Local Perspective

Marion is a city with a great deal of mythology behind it. Celebrated as the home of James Dean (although he was actually born in a nearby town) and infamous as the site of the last recorded lynching in the United States, Marion is a town that looms large in the imagination despite having a small population.

Finding an apartment to rent in Marion itself requires a little bit of legwork. With a population of fewer than 30,000, many of the residences are owner-occupied. Indiana Wesleyan University draws 2800 people to the city each year, so the rental properties that are available get snapped up fast. Keep a few of these pointers in mind if you're hunting for your new place to stay in Marion

Finding a Marion Apartment

When to search

So many of the rental properties in Marion are going to students that you want to pay attention to the school year cycle when looking for an apartment. April and May are great times to look for a new place.

Staying in the know

If you're renting in Marion you want to show landlords how you're going to pay for your new apartment. If you're in school, be able to demonstrate your income or funding so that the landlord can be confident that you're going to be making your rent payments on time.

Where to play

Marion is a small town, but that doesn't mean that there isn't entertainment to be had. The fantastic Mexican food at Casa Brava is not to be missed, and the local AMC Movie theatre is extremely popular with everyone in the city. A weekend road trip into Indianapolis to catch a Colts game is a must at least once for every football fan.
