As Yousof quite rightly stated below, there are good and bad aspects of living at Cedar Court Apartments...although things have gotten markedly worse over the past year (more on that below). Background: I lived in a 1 bedroom apartment for a little more than a year, and then in a 2 bedroom apartment for the past 3+ years (both on the 4th floor). First the good: The building is pretty new (built maybe 15 years ago), so there are zero issues with pests/rundown infrastructure/etc. The management company is competent, and takes good care of maintenance, though I never really had cause to call except once for a garbage disposal that got jammed (my fault). Washer and dryer in unit is super convenient, though old school top-loader style, so wasteful of water and energy, and you cannot swap-out with your own. The apartments have high ceilings (9.5 feet maybe?) with large windows that capture lots of beautiful light. Having a dedicated parking spot in public parking garage is great, because your car stays out of the elements and you always have a convenient spot even when the garage is full with MARC commuters. The neighbors are mostly quiet middle class working folks, just minding their business and living their lives. The walls are solid so you don't hear your next door neighbors at all really, but you can hear people walking around above you, though not too bad. Now, the bad: It is expensive; the rent is high, as it is all around the DC metro area, but they call Cedar Court "luxury apartments" and charge accordingly (they aren't luxury though, just decent mid-range apartments). Also, utilities are EXTREMELY high, especially water which is always like $150/month even though I use little water. My utility bills are almost always around $500/month (you are locked-in to Comcast for internet/TV), and I am not a wasteful dude. The apartments back up to the Olde Towne train tracks, and there is a police station right across the street, so there are loud noises very frequently, day and night; you get used to the trains though, except when you are coming/going to your car in the garage and a train goes by fast, blowing its horn, which is DEAFENING. This is kinda nitpicky, but the floorplans are weird, and it is difficult to use all the square footage efficiently because the living rooms are oddly shaped. All that being said, the worst thing about Cedar Court *by far* is that about a year ago a different management company built some low-income apartments next door, sharing the parking garage, and immediately upon opening it, an MS-13 crew set up shop selling drugs and prostituting women in the garage. Now, not a week goes by when I don't come out at night to run an errand and find a bunch of people gathered around my car selling/buying drugs (serious drugs, not just weed), and condoms litter the garage floor. On weekends the crew works the courtyard, and their ruckus sometime wakes me up in the middle of the night. I have complained to the police twice, but nothing has been so far. There hasn't been any violence yet, but it's definitely a sketchy situation getting sketchier by the day, and I am quite happy to be leaving to much cheaper and safer digs in DC...

We lived there for around 6 months in a 2bed/2bath apartment. It has good and bad things, but be aware of its utility costs! It's really high especially Water/Sewer and Electricity. I am now living in Alexandria, VA, and I can assure you that we pay one fourth to one third those utility bills in comparison to Cedar Court. And it might not be because of Gaithersburg as I found that other communities pay much less than us for their utilities.
