Ellensburg is located in Kittitas County. It has a population of around 20,000 people. It is conveniently located off of Interstate 90 and is home to Central Washington University. The town was incorporated in 1883 but officially became a city in 1872. John Allen Shoudy named the town after his wife Mary Ellen Shoudy. Ellensburg has that small town feel due to its rural setting in the heart of Washington. However don't let this town fool you. There is so much to see and do in the area. Ellensburg is known as the most centrally located city in the State of Washington.
