By , July 13, 2017Its a cool little place its close to a lot of fun stuff and a bus line straight to campus. However, there are some draw back. The art gallery below is a performance art gallery. It has on probably average 1 night a month in which the performance was so loud it rattled the upstairs window frames. The guys there were really nice about it when we talked with them about it, but it continues to be an issue periodically. More importantly though is the outrageous water bill. There is no dish washer, no clothing washer, but because you straight split the bill with 5 places I think, and 3 of them are businesses you end up paying 140 on the low end every three months and the highest was 300.00 This leads straight tot he next issue. Lykens Company is incredibly unresponsive to anything. It took me and one of the business owners contacting them about the 300 (again this was our portion each so for the whole building it was like 1,000 or more) to get them to do something about it, even though one of the guys on there phone listings job title is something about utilities manager. The eventually sent out maintenance, but never provided a reason why the bill had been so high. When we first moved in the art gallery was incredibly loud every night. We reached out to the property manager heard nothing for weeks. I called left several messages, nothing again. Eventually I got an email that said from the property manager that said hey we will look into it. Nothing happened. I eventually reached out to someone on the board of the art gallery, he was kind and cooperative, but indicated that no one had ever talked to him about the sound issues. So in the end it comes to this; its very cool place, a ton of natural lighting, the maintenance crew is great. The utilities are high and the property manager is impossible to deal with once you sign the lease. Oh and they will arbitrarily raise the rent 730.00 is a lot for a one bedroom in the area.
