Crime at PSC is super rare. There are not even burglaries reported on campus. Security guards are present and even pretty friendly. Everyone feels safe here. However, in Chicago Heights, the crime rate is pretty high. A few murders happen annually, as well as a few dozen sexual assaults and a handful of arson cases. There are bad areas in Chicago Heights, and then slightly better places. A lot of people feel unsafe in the Heights, especially considering the gang and drug scene, and you may occasionally hear gunshots. PSC is a community college with no dorms, so all students live in the area either with family, or in apartments. One bedrooms in Chicago Heights are anywhere from $585/month to $1200/month. Two bedrooms average around $800/month and three bedrooms nearly 1000/month.
