Though Carrboro is technically a town apart from Chapel Hill, the two areas have such a close relationship that most residents cannot define where Chapel Hill ends and Carrboro begins. This little hippy town is well known for its bikeability, numerous farmer’s markets, and general liberalism. The community is incredibly involved. As a resident here, you’ll likely become well-acquainted with your neighbors and frequently support the many unique local businesses in the area. There are many fantastic attractions here, including a ton of hipster hangouts – award-winning coffee bars, co-op grocers, quirky bookstores – and many other interesting novelties. It’s a great neighborhood for any open-minded young professional, grad student, or even undergrad looking to live close to the Research Triangle amenities or UNC-CH.
