The University of Bridgeport is in Bridgeport’s South End neighborhood, which is just a mile south of downtown. If you make the walk or drive there, you can treat yourself and friends or family to the best restaurants in the city. Amici Miei, El Pueblito, Star of Istanbul, Ralph and Rich’s...there are so many options. The South End also has some great restaurants too; Famous Pizza House or Leo’s Pizza will hit the spot for carb-hungry students at the university. Students who hope to use public transportation to get around Bridgeport will be disappointed. Two buses serve the university’s campus; one that goes to the city bus station and another that can take you to malls and downtown Bridgeport. Unfortunately, they both run infrequently and aren’t a viable option for everyday commuting, even though students ride free. If you want to live off-campus (further than walking distance), you will need a car. Interstate 95 is half a mile north of campus, and is how most off-campus students get to class.
