Going to college shouldn’t mean you have to leave your furry friends behind. One of the perks of leaving the University of Minnesota dorms is the freedom to live where and how you want. But owning a dog in a city as large as Minneapolis can be difficult, especially since many property managers restrict pets, and even if you find a place, as a renter, you’ll need to find a spacious park to let your pup run free. At ABODO, we want to make sure you love your place, so we’ve done some of the finding for you. Here are some great U of M apartments that allow dogs and are in the neighborhood of the Franklin Terrace Off-Leash Dog Park situated along the Mississippi River. The park is completely fenced-in, but requires a permit — $35 per dog for residents, or $5 per day.
The Wa Hu apartments, blocks from campus and the TCF Bank Stadium, are a great fit for all students, whether they have pets or not. Individual leases with a variety of floorplans are perfect for college students, and you don’t need to worry about your roomie leaving you hanging on rent. Cable, internet, and furnishings are included, as is tanning, indoor and outdoor pool access, and bike parking. You can also take advantage of the building’s concierge service, grill areas, fire pit, study areas, and computer lounge. It’s like campus away from campus — but you can bring your dog. Two pets are allowed in each unit, but only one pet per lease.
Pets of any size (with some breed restrictions) are welcome at this student community, for an extra pet-rent of $30 per month. Residents can easily walk to campus and other campus-adjacent gathering spots, bars, and restaurants, as well as Prospect Park. The newly built units include the popular amenities like internet, in-unit laundry, and pool access, as well as study areas, bike parking, and a rooftop patio, grilling area, and plenty of outdoor seating for you and your friends.
These affordable, pet-friendly apartments are a stone’s throw from the University of Minnesota campus, stadium, theaters, and more, with laundry and parking both available on-site.
